Almshoe Bury Farm is a Grade 1 listed building, the foundations of which are

mentioned in the Doomsday Book. It was originally built as a manor house and

retains some of its 13th century features.  In 1374 it was relegated to the status

of farmhouse instead of manor house. It is reputedly the oldest continuously

inhabited house in Hertfordshire and has been farmed by our family for over

100 years.

We have a treasure trove of history about then house, including this  little extract

from The Times on Wednesday 24th February 1858 - the sale of the Almshoe Bury

Estate. 670 acres worth £1,000 per year!
